Question 1: How to Apply for a Nativity Certificate?
Step 1: File an application for a Nativity Certificate [Sample Form] in the applicable State Government in India.

Please contact your State Government directly to request the proper Nativity Certificate
Step 2: Provide as many of the following supporting documents as you can along with your Nativity Certificate:
i. Details of ancestral properties that may have existed and you know about, such as a previous home etc.
ii. School/College/University where an ancestor studied, or any other Information.
iii. Names and particulars of other relatives who could vouch for the accuracy of the statements made on your application to claim Indian origin
iv. In case the applicants ancestors left India several years ago and details of their departure mode are available, they should be provided as this would help the authorities in tracing them through past departure records if available
v. Include any other information or document that can help your case
Question 2: How long does it take to get a Nativity Certificate Issued?
Answer: Unfortunately, there is no set time frame. The entire process depends on your State Government in India, the type of records available to the government officials, and the documents you provide them with for reference.
